2 sides of 4 coins

cropped-kiss-kiss-24049152-986-1023_grande.jpgRecently Tommy & Mike at Three Sides Of The Coin pondered an all consuming question: What if KISS had not done the four solo albums in 1978 and instead had done a KISS record? What tunes would be on it?

It has vexed me since viewing last Tuesday night (as is now a borderline ritualistic affair (for me that is)) so I have decided to return a volley with my 10 song release. 9 is just too tough guys, I won’t do it.

There is no panacea when attempting such lofty KISS madness as one has to clear ones mind completely clean of any knowledge of KISS after the release of Alive II. No small feat: who among us can shake the evil specter of Gene on Alive II let alone the sheer bombast of its bounty. Alas, the process is almost complete. I am as close to post ’78 tabula rasa as one could hope this evening.

Me thinks t’would have been a decidedly rocking affair had they not all needed to be sequestering so badly at the time. Somewhere in an alternative KISS universe, left on the cutting room floor, the aptly titled semi-autobiographical critical masterpiece KISS,True Confessions looms large as Ace’s breakout record with the band.
